Glass Tiger, is run by me Mark Roberts.

I make bespoke, custom, wood/EPS, surfboards that are not externally glassed.

The boards are constructed with hard wood veneers and hard wood parabolic rails, over an EPS blank.

I set up this blog to document the latest boards, developments, and generally any other stuff thats in the mix.

Over the summer I've been squirreling away making Carlos Burles new gun, which is now in his safe hands at the beginning of the winter in Hawaii.
I went to town with a Jackson Pollack inspired design on the deck and left the under side plane of the quad gun, the wood types are - walnut, chestnut and mahogany.
Carlos sports a santa hat next to his sled.

This is the first board to go to New Zealand.
Ramon has bee living and working in London for the last 6 years and wanted something special to take back to NZ with him, so he ordered an SUP infact he ordered 2 one for him and one for his wife too.
He picked up the first this morning, this is a 10'6'' all round SUP for surf and flat water too, the weather was lovely at 8:30am this morning so we got this shot in the morning sunshine and the proud new owner.

6'6'' Bonzer, for Scott.
This board is a round tailed bonzer, classic bonzer bottom contours and fin set up.
I did a little stain work on the bottom of this board, and I'm really happy with how it turned out, as it flows with the grain really nicely and I think the colors work with the mahogany.
This board is flying out to France in a few days but can be seen at Free riders in Falmouth for the next few days.

Rics new fish

This is the latest board built for Ric Harwood.
Its a small fish with a central channel for drive and v off the tail for friendly ride.
The rails are slim towards the tail for controlled drive, and 50 50 going forwards to the nose to give a loose forgiving ride.
Rics 3rd GT board now, hes hooked on the wood!

Its all plane to sea

I've recently made some solid chestnut wood hand planes. This is a pin tailed plane with double handed grip, and funky channels. It has a raspberry red stain on the tail, and can be fitted with a rubber wist support so there is less chance of loosing it in bigger surf.
Hand planes are huge fun, and as a stand up surfer up until now I hadn't made much of a foray into body surfing, but trying these things out really brings home the simple pleasure of you and the wave in a very uncomplicated way.
