Glass Tiger, is run by me Mark Roberts.

I make bespoke, custom, wood/EPS, surfboards that are not externally glassed.

The boards are constructed with hard wood veneers and hard wood parabolic rails, over an EPS blank.

I set up this blog to document the latest boards, developments, and generally any other stuff thats in the mix.

Its all plane to sea

I've recently made some solid chestnut wood hand planes. This is a pin tailed plane with double handed grip, and funky channels. It has a raspberry red stain on the tail, and can be fitted with a rubber wist support so there is less chance of loosing it in bigger surf.
Hand planes are huge fun, and as a stand up surfer up until now I hadn't made much of a foray into body surfing, but trying these things out really brings home the simple pleasure of you and the wave in a very uncomplicated way.

The dims of the board are 9'8'' x 23'' x 3'',
and was built for Byron.

As usual with all my boards the construction is rock solid and the board is simply finished with an oil based varnish.

Has to be seen..
2 + 1 fin configuration, this board is ready to go!

This is a recent board I made for Olly,
Its a short single fin, inspired by early single fins.
The length is only 5'10'' with the volume hidden in the wide point slightly forward.
The rocker is reasonable flat, with v running all the way through, flatting off at the tail.
Ollys stoked... Good times

Tim and I built this bonzer clean line for his Mentawais trip, we managed to get it finished just in time!
Hopefully he will return with some good photos and epic tails... watch this space.

Where is that!

Pete who bought the Freak fish, just sent through some great pics of him surfing 'Le Freak' at his local point in Scotland. I was blown away by how good the set up looks, but was told this is a fairly rare occurrence, never the less looks awesome.
Nice one Pete... nice top turn too!
